WHITEHORSE BLUFFS PACK TRIP

4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS
(on request for groups of minimum 5 only)

CDN $ 650.00

This four day pack trip takes us from the Wells Gray Guest Ranch ( www.wellsgrayranch.com ) through the Hemp Creek Canyon Lands to the old Trapper’s Cabin on the banks of the Clearwater River. We ride along Coal Creek Bluffs, walk behind impressive Moul Falls , ride along the Clearwater River all the way to majestic Whitehorse Bluffs and view Hoodoos on the trail home. The evenings around the campfire listening to the wranglers stories of the wilderness add to an unforgettable vacation.

Day 1
Arrival at the Wells Gray Guest Ranch at 10.00 a.m. Registration at the desk. After the formalities you will meet the wranglers at the barn. We saddle our horses and pack the packhorses. We spend some time getting to know our horses and get familiar with some riding techniques. Instruction includes details on how to ride western style and how to handle your horse on the trail and various terrain. Around noon we depart for the Flat Iron Viewpoint where we stop for lunch. In the afternoon we descend along Trout Creek Canyon to the old Cabin down by the Clearwater River. We set up camp and start the first campfire BBQ.

Day 2
We mount our horses earlier today as we do not have to pack packhorses and cross Hemp Creek. Along this creek we ride north until we reach the old "Hoods in the woods camp". From there we ascend the Coal Creek Bluffs and ride along the bluffs to Moul Creek Falls. Here we can walk down and behind this impressive fall. Mid afternoon we return to the camp.

Day 3
This morning after breakfast we will ride along the Clearwater River until we reach the old Indian fishing camp at the base of majestic Whitehorse Bluffs. Enroute we will enjoy our packed lunch at one of the many vista stops overlooking the Clearwater River Valley. After a break at the camp where we can try our luck fishing for Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden we will return to our basecamp at the Cabin for another delicious dinner.

Day 4
We pack up the packhorses again and then ascend from the river up a steep hill to reach the Hoodoo Trail. Beautiful vistas of the Shuswap Highlands and a series of hoodoos, which are unique lava rock formations which were worshipped by the natives in earlier days. The views and the land formations are definitely the highlights of today's trail back to the Ranch. Arrival at the ranch at approx. 05.00 p.m.
